Should I Watch What I Eat Or Diet If I Want to Conceive a Boy Or a Girl Baby? I’ll Tell You
I was recently asked this question. The person who asked had read one of my previous articles which discussed acidic and alkaline foods in your diet depending on which gender you are trying to conceive. This person was trying to become pregnant and she wondered if this meant that she should limit her caloric intake or bump it up. She had other questions like whether she should avoid junk food or not, whether she should avoid things like chocolate or coffee, and whether there was a specific amount of calories that she should strive to meet each day. I will try to answer these concerns in the following article.
You Should Not Limit Your Calories If You Are Trying To Become Pregnant: (This Is True If You Want A Girl Baby Or A Boy Baby:) There is a pretty well known study which suggests that women who consume more calories and breakfast were more likely to have boys. In my opinion, the study was not nearly specific enough to assume that these results mean that you should limit your calories if you want a girl. There are so many variables that go into which gender you get and foods are only one small part of this.
Also, it’s so important to consider that getting pregnant and maintaining a healthy pregnancy is hard work for your body. This is why you are so tired when you first become pregnant and why your body does things like not shed hair nearly as much when it’s trying to conserve it’s reserves during pregnancy. To that end, it most certainly needs fuel to help with these processes. It’s my opinion that conception and pregnancy are times when you don’t want to limit your food intake. Sure, you can focus on nutritionally dense and healthful foods, but make sure that you are eating enough of it.
I cringe when people tell me that they want to diet when they are trying to get pregnant or during their pregnancy. I know that they are concerned about the weight gain, but this is a time when your body needs all the care that you can give it. It’s certainly not the time to deprive your body of what it needs.
How The Foods That You Eat (Not The Lack Of Them) Affect Whether You Have A Boy Or A Girl: I often discuss eating an acidic diet if you want a girl (but only while you are trying to conceive) and an alkaline diet if you want a boy. Never have I suggested that you should limit the amounts of food that you are eating and I really want for this to be clear. You’re certainly allowed and encouraged to eat all that you want of the foods that correspond with which ever gender that you want.
As far as the questions about the coffee and the junk food go, my advice is going to be that no foods are off limits if you don’t care about which gender you end up with. (I can tell you though that chocolate would fall into the boy making food category (very alkaline) and coffee would be encouraged in the girl making food category.) If you do care whether you get a boy or a girl, then you would want to stick with acidic foods (if you favor a female conception) and alkaline foods (if you favor a male conception.) It would be impossible for me to discuss every food that goes into each category. But, very generally speaking, most meats, cheeses, and eggs tend toward acid while the vegetables and fruits do not (although there are always exceptions like corn.)
Now as far as junk food goes, the fats, butters, and sugars are mostly considered to be neutral. So a few of these things here and there aren’t likely going to ruin everything. (Although paying attention to nutritionally dense foods is always a good idea.) I know that some people will go so far as to test themselves with PH testers after they eat anything just so they know how their favorite foods affect them.
Turning Our Attention Away From Food And Diet For A Second: I know that this article has been about what you eat, but as I’ve alluded to, there are many variables involved, especially in terms of natural gender selection. You can also make small changes in your timing (early intercourse for girls and late intercourse for boys) as well as the positions that you use when you try to conceive. Of course, it’s best to try to address all of these things, but if you decide not to, every little bit helps.
I’ve put together a few websites that take a lot of the guess work out of choosing your baby’s gender when getting pregnant. You’ll find step by step instructions, resources for douche recipes and food PH lists, information on when to conceive, tips, support, and examples of ovulation predictors / PH testing strips.
