Five Great Uses For The Jumperoo Bouncer
Choosing a baby bouncer is not as easy as you might think. There are door hanging ones and free standing bouncers. Most bouncers do exactly that too, bounce! There is one however that is a little different. This baby bouncer contains specially placed toys, sounds and colors that are scientifically proven to help your baby’s development. I am of course, talking about the Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo. So here are five great uses for your Jumperoo!
Go Baby Go!
A strong reason why baby’s love bouncers is because they are so fun, plus they teach the baby how to use their lower limbs. You would think they learn this automatically, and they do – over time. We just kind of expect baby’s to learn to walk by themselves, and they, but this process can be helped. In rural countries they manually bounce their new born to encourage them to use their legs. This helps them develop strength in their lower limbs a lot sooner. Why this work is this is that this repeated action helps the development of neurons in baby’s legs, helping the body to learning to use the legs a lot sooner. Also the bouncer will help strengthen baby’s legs to get ready for walking.
Get Clever
Your baby is also encouraged to learn by discovery further aiding development. The toys are made of all different textures so this helps baby develop a sense of touch. Combine the toys with the sounds the bouncer makes and this provides a platform for cognitive development. Your baby becomes familiar with sounds even when they are in the womb, that’s why doctors recommend listening to relaxing music when pregnant as it relaxes the baby. Using your bouncer you can actually teach your baby to talk. Baby’s learn to speak and develop language by association. If they see something enough times, followed by the words they will learn what that is or how to say those words. Using this principle you can use the toys around the bouncer to encourage your baby to develop speech. Each time baby picks up a toy say the name of that toy i.e. elephant. Eventually baby will associate those words with the toy and at some point, try to imitate you. Although baby cannot speak at first, they can most definitely understand and are processing i.e. thinking about all the stimulation they are receiving. This doubles your baby’s cognitive development and engages them in lateral thinking from an early age.
Busy Busy Busy!
Some baby bouncers have baby facing one way – forwards. The Jumperoo has 360 degree rotation so that baby can freely move to see what’s behind or to the side of them. This is great if you are cooking dinner and your baby is normally quite clingy and needs to be able to see you all the time (my nieces are like this!). Simply place baby into the Jumperoo in the kitchen whilst you go about cooking the food. This will encourage baby to use their legs to move around as opposed to simply up and down. Good news for their motor skills and strength and at the same time frees up your hands to get food done. What sometimes happens in this situation is baby begins to think you are moving around as part of some sort of game! Give it a try!
