Birth Control & Fertility : How to Read a Home Pregnancy Test
An Early Pregnancy Test
An Early Pregnancy Test
Expecting moms get very anxious the moment that they start to feel a possible pregnancy. Once they miss their period, they get very excited and curious whether they are pregnant or not. And thus, they would head off to the nearest pharmacy or convenient store to purchase a home pregnancy kit. An early pregnancy test may help you confirm whether you are pregnant or not. But is an early pregnancy test accurate? When should you take your first pregnancy test?
The most common reason why women prefer to take a test using pregnancy test kits is the convenience, privacy and quick results that you get from it. Home use kits may detect the hormone hCG in your urine about 2 weeks after conception or 2 weeks after the egg has been fertilized by the sperm. Using your kit, drop urine on the strip and wait for a few minutes to see the results. To ensure better results, take a look at some of these tips.
But how soon can you conduct a pregnancy test? Most doctors and HPT manufacturers recommend that you take a home pregnancy test on the first day of your missed period which falls around the second week after conception. There are; however, some kits which were especially designed to be more sensitive than the others and can be taken earlier. Just keep in mind to read the instructions very carefully and interpret the results correctly. Pregnancy test results administered at home are said to be 97% accurate. If you want a more accurate result, you can undergo through a blood test administered by your physician. This test is said to be more sensitive than HPTs and can even detect pregnancy on the second week of conception.
When to take a pregnancy test at home is done by many women using a pregnancy test that will test the urine to determine if they are pregnant. Home pregnancy tests are convenient, inexpensive and are private. The urine test should be done using your first urine when you awake in the morning. When you have a positive home pregnancy test result, you should then see your health care provider soon. Your health care provider will confirm your home test result with a blood test plus a pelvic exam.
When to take a pregnancy test is important, because if you test too early in your pregnancy, there may not yet be enough of the pregnancy hormone in the urine to provide a positive test result. Most of the home pregnancy tests will be 90% accurate if you wait and test yourself one day after your missed period is due. If you feel you are pregnant but the home pregnancy test is negative, repeat the test again in a week if you still have not had your period. And if you are still getting negative test results and think you are pregnant, be sure and see your health care provider right away.
You experience cramping pains and bleeding. Also one of the common pregnancy first symptoms is bleeding and cramping. Implantation bleeding happens when a fertilized egg is attached to the lining of your uterus between the tenth and the fourteenth day after fertilization. Some women confuse implantation bleeding for their menstrual period. Note that implantation bleeding comes a bit earlier and is lighter in color as compared to your period. It also does not last long enough. Abdominal cramping may also be experienced by some women. These cramps feel almost the same as your menstrual cramps.
You crave for certain foods. Most women crave for certain food during the first trimester of their pregnancy. This, again, is caused by the hormonal changes that the body experiences. When you’re pregnant, you might find yourself dreading your usual favorites and you will be surprised to crave for recipes which you used to hate.
