Unique Baby Gifts for Showers
Hosting a baby shower can be a big job. Between the invitations, decorations, party favors, and food, it seems that there is hardly time for you to find a gift to give the expecting mom. It’s easy to end up picking something up at the last minute and then arrive at the shower to find that everyone has brought almost the same gift! In this article, I’m going to be talking about unique baby gifts that you can purchase, if you’re the host of the shower or just someone who needs creative ideas!
One thing that makes a unique baby gift is a handcrafted item. If you look around, it will be amazing how many people you can find that make baby things by hand. You could look for handcrafted items at gift shops, or simply ask around and find out who can make them. Hand knitting and crocheting is a hobby of many elderly people and, thanks to groups such as 4H, it is becoming quite popular among the younger crowd too. When you buy handmade, you can be sure that your baby gift will be the only one of its kind!
Monogrammed gifts are quite popular these days and make excellent, yet unique baby gifts. A monogrammed blanket, baby bib, or socks are perfect for a shower. You could choose to have the babies initials monogrammed, or simply their entire first name. This will make the gift something that will stand out as being especially for the baby you give it to.
Although they usually cost more than most people are willing to spend, a hand-designed patchwork baby quilt is a perfect choice as a gift. You can buy small quilts at country stores or have one custom made for you. As I already mentioned, this is a rather pricey choice but one that baby will be likely to treasure for his or her entire life.
If the expectant mother is a member of your family, a baby heirloom always makes an amazing gift. You probably wouldn’t want to present something such as a crib since large gifts can often cause a lot of frustration. Instead, you might consider giving small items such as silver baby cups and spoons that have been passed down over the years. What a delight for baby to use the same cup that grandpa had when he was small!
Another unique baby gift would be coupons for mom. On most computers you can design gift coupons and then print them at home. For instance, you could design coupons that say “One night of free babysitting”. These will not only be appreciated but also very welcome to the new mom. Just be certain that you are actually committed and able to do what you offer!
Baby books, photo albums, growth charts, and baby foot print molds are also great and unique gifts for baby showers. Although these are things that you don’t usually think of, parents will use them quite often and will be able to enjoy them for years to come!
