The DaVinci Baby Crib JPMA Certification Process

The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) offers certification of products which meet the requirements published by ASTM International (formerly the American Society for Testing and Materials).  ASTM is a non-profit organization with a reputation for the requirements it publishes for materials, solutions and services.  These requirements are what the JPMA use to determine if a product qualifies for official certifications or if it does not qualify.  For a item to be JPMA certified, what it signifies is that the item meets the set standard and is safety compliant.

JPMA certification is provided according to categories and the producer’s item must fall into an available category or that item cannot go through the certification approach.  Most furniture items may not have the JPMA certification due to the fact a category has not been designed for them.

DaVinci baby cribs that are JPMA certified went through an official testing carried out by the formal certification laboratory to check for the voluntary standards that are formulated and published by ASTM International.  These standards are designed and revised by committees with ASTM, and these are made up of manufacturers, customer teams, and representation from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (UPSC) and other involved parties.  The procedure in itself was rigorous and thorough, but the road to certification for DaVinci cribs did not end with just testing.

Even though DaVinci baby cribs are JPMA certified, 25% of all their models get tested each quarter.  The objective is that all their designs are tested at least the bare minimum once every year.  The standard of the DaVinci crib is consistently being monitored and tested by the manufacturers to ensure that every time, the DaVinci baby crib meets the best achievable standard.

Random retail testing is also performed on DaVinci baby cribs on a quarterly basis and these tests are all to ASTM standards.  All cribs that have gone through this approach have a certification seal provided by JPMA.
