My Personal Review On Dreambaby Extra Tall Swing Close Gate
The operation of this door is a dream This extra high baby safety gate is ideal for many areas where one wants a security door. It is very strong as is the shipping weight of 20 pounds would imply (to 5 pounds more than the weight of the door shipping regular security Dreambaby). This is super easy to install “some” areas because it is the increasing pressure style is intuitive and does not require many parts. I am currently using one and three of the regular Dreambaby door (and two different types of others as well).
Two words of warning:
1) This is probably not the best door to install on top of the stairs, just because you have to use screws and not enough holes for the screws (only one above and one for the bottom of each side, and I would love to need twice).
2) The mounting pressure is not designed for most situations where it is molded. For example, if you have molding along the wall so that the round part that touches the wall, can not be level, or if you cast on her balcony so that the round pieces that are connected can not be level. Considering that the instructions tell you to take this door off the ground, there are places where you can get away with having slightly above the ground. But decorative molding can make this door too difficult to install without getting creative with finely cut pieces of wood or some other creative method.
The extensions include:
Dreambaby Amazon sells this product with the included extensions, one for each side (not supposed to use two on one side, although some people have done successfully). While you are paying for the extension (nothing is free), is a comfort, especially when you see what all cargo door marketing to a separate extension. As I said, I have three of these particular doors installed. I used an extension of two of them and two of them. I can not imagine what a pain it would have been for extensions separately. Of course, that means I have two additional extensions do not need.
The operation of this door:
I love it. It’s better than my other doors. The door closes automatically closed when you open even halfway and let go. Very convenient. After all, you have to go through the door again and again every day, and you do not want this event to be an ordeal.
Top of the stairs:
Oh, how I hated installing a gate to the top of the stairs. This is the most sensible place to install a door. This is because a baby can press on it and down the stairs with her or not, God forbid. Here is my recommendation for the top of the stairs: KidCo Safeway Door – White. Just as I found the door Dreambaby simpler and better for most uses, I found this simple for the top of the stairs. But the installation was difficult and time consuming that would be the installation of pressure mounted many doors. It has two screws for each of the 4 points of contact. You know what? – You really have to pull the screws because they are too short and insufficient. So you have to get your own screws. On the other hand, does not close and “lock” automatically, as Dreambaby door. Please see my comment is to get tips on how to install it (or other evaluations that have been good advice.)
Conclusion:
The pressure mounted on the door Dreambaby is almost perfect for non-top of the stairs used whenever there is crown molding to interfere with the installation. The inclusion of the extension was a good idea but drove up the cost a bit. The operation of the door is a dream.
