Teething is very hard for both your baby and you. Some babies are lucky enough to go through the whole teething process without much pain or discomfort. Unfortunately most babies are not this lucky. As a parent it is so hard to watch your baby in pain. It’s also hard to deal with teething because your baby is so little you can’t explain to them why they are so uncomfortable. These home remedies for teething are all very simple, and will help you get though those long, hard nights of teething.

First of all be sure to check with your doctor before you give your baby any medication. Every baby is different and only your doctor can let you know if certain medications are safe for your baby. An old wives tale that many people swear by is to put alcohol on your babies gums. You should never give your baby any amount of alcohol. Any amount of alcohol is bad for your baby and should be avoided. Teething pain can be reduced in many natural ways.

A wet washcloth is very simple, and will often greatly help with the pain incurred from teething. Often babies will love chewing on the washcloth, and this will keep them happy and pain free for hours. Many babies love the feel of cold water, and the cold often helps combat the pain.

If your baby is old enough to eat, there are many simple foods that can be frozen to help with teething. Frozen banana’s taste good, and give the baby an opportunity to suck and chew, which should help relieve the discomfort of teething. You can let your baby suck on a frozen bagel as well. The only problem with using frozen foods as a teething remedy is that you have to make sure your baby cannot get a big enough piece of the food that they could choke. As soon as your baby has front teeth, you need to carefully watch to make sure a large piece of food is not bitten off.
